Employment
Employment is an essential part of community inclusion for people with disabilities. Competitive integrated employment ensures that people with disabilities will engage in integrated settings at competitive wages and provides a direct pathway to increased independence and self-sufficiency. For youth with disabilities, a smooth transition from education to employment is critical, and, for adults with disabilities, there is a need to overcome the low labor force participation rate that hinders their opportunities to fully contribute as colleagues, business owners, and taxpayers.
Supported Employment
- Supporting people with disabilities in navigating a pathway to employment in integrated environments at competitive wages to achieve more independence and self-sufficiency.
- Supporting employers in recognizing the benefits of employing a more diverse workforce by hiring individuals with disabilities.
- Supporting communities in recognizing the value of inclusive community living, including employment, for individuals with disabilities.
