This bill was introduced in Senate on March 16, 2023. This bill creates the International Children with Disabilities Protection Program within the Department of State. Under the program, the State Department can offer grants to support groups representing individuals with disabilities and families of children with disabilities in promoting policies that guarantee the inclusion of families and the transition of children with disabilities to independent living.
The bill also allows the State Department to provide funding to select nongovernmental organizations to enhance their ability to promote policies such as (1) establishing programs to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities, and (2) enhancing the advocacy and leadership skills of individuals with disabilities.
