This bill enables the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to grant funds to health centers offering services for individuals with developmental disabilities, including dental care. Recipients of these grants must offer specialized treatment as required by individuals with developmental disabilities.

The bill also grants HHS the authority to officially recognize individuals with developmental disabilities as groups experiencing shortages of health professionals for the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) program. NHSC offers scholarships and student loan repayment benefits to qualified providers who commit to serving designated populations or areas lacking primary care, dental care, and mental health care providers.
