Assembly Bill No. 2920 Postsecondary Education- Students with Disabilities- Inclusive College Pilot Programs (Amended in Assembly on March 24, 2022)

This assembly bill was introduced by Assembly Member Arambula on February 18, 2022. The current legislation expresses the Legislature's aim for public higher education in California to work towards creating educational environments that are equitable, ensuring that every Californian, irrespective of age, economic status, or specific traits such as mental disability, has a fair chance to fully realize their potential. Subject to funding allocated for its implementation, this legislation would mandate the California State University and urge the University of California to initiate pilot initiatives aimed at establishing and sustaining inclusive college programs catering to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities at public postsecondary educational institutions lasting four years. Current legislation creates the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education and delineates its functions and duties.
